RISING BAND THE FIGS RELEASE DEBUT EP ‘MISSED CALLS’
Emerging Aussie Indie Rock outfit The Figs have released their debut EP Missed Calls, a heartfelt and energetic snapshot of early adulthood that blends catchy lyricism, laid-back charm, and classic pop-rock sensibilities into a distinctly modern sound.
Formed during their studies at the Australian Institute of Music, Finn, Oliver, Harry, and Ollie came together initially to sharpen their craft and collaborate creatively. What began as a university project quickly evolved into a local powerhouse, with the four-piece carving out an identity that has resonated strongly across Sydney’s indie scene and beyond.
Since forming, The Figs have built momentum organically. Their debut single “Rocket Ship” surpassed 4,000 streams without third-party marketing or assistance, while follow-up single “Redo” earned a spot on triple j Unearthed TOPS, cementing the band as a rising name within Australian indie rock.
Their debut EP Missed Calls brings together stories of love, heartbreak, naivety, and self-discovery — each track rooted in the lived experiences of its members. Drawing inspiration from Sydney and its surrounding coasts, the EP delivers a rustic yet youthful take on indie pop-rock, balancing emotional honesty with an unmistakable sense of fun.
Frontman Finn reflects on the release as a defining moment for the band:
“This EP means a lot to me because it feels like the first true snapshot of where we’re at as The Figs. It’s personal, but it also reflects the connection we’ve built as a group. It’s about putting something honest into the world, representing Sydney, and taking a real step forward as a band.”
With Missed Calls, The Figs deliver a debut that is heartfelt, relatable, and full of youthful energy — a warm and nostalgic introduction to a band firmly on the rise within the Aussie indie landscape.
